Career Treks Immerse Students in Opportunities

Led by NCA, Career Treks allow students to explore a handful of companies in their industry of choice in a new city and network with alumni. NCA offers three Treks annually: A Government, Law and Policy Trek to D.C. over spring break, an August Trek to Los Angeles for Film and Television, and last December’s Trek to New York City for Investment Banking.

ResilientNU - Spring Cohort Registration

ResilientNU hosts for 5 weeks each quarter. Cohorts address mindfulness, personal values, thinking patterns, de-stressing techniques, and anti-perfectionism.


Reclaiming Your Canvas: Art-Focused Survivor Support Group

Reclaiming Your Canvas is a six-week, art-focused support group for Â鶹´«Ã½ students who identify as survivors of sexual violence, stalking, or intimate partner violence. Through engagement in various forms of creative expression, this group will offer a space to explore the nature of survivorship and the self through non-verbal processing. This group will most benefit those already engaged in support services. To register or ask for more information, email Alexandra.


MBSR Spring Cohort

Looking to reduce stress and build a mindfulness practice with other like-minded folx? Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) is an eight-week program that uses meditation, movement, and science-backed resources to help you cultivate mindfulness in a supportive and reflective space.


 

The Â鶹´«Ã½ Kitty Kart Tournament

March 14, 5:00–9:00 PM, Norris University Center Game Room

The Norris Game Room has teamed up with the E-Sports Club to host a university-wide Mario Kart 8 Deluxe tournament! Additionally, there will be a side event featuring Animal Crossing: New Horizons. Don't forget to bring your copy of the game and explore other players' islands!


Red Watch Band Alcohol Bystander Intervention Trainings

Have you ever had to help a drunk friend but weren’t sure exactly what you were doing? This training will provide you with the knowledge and skills needed to identify, prevent and intervene effectively in an alcohol-related medical emergency. You’ll also learn about how alcohol affects our physiology and behavior, signs and symptoms of alcohol poisoning and the truth behind common alcohol-related myths. Be Dillo, through our form now!


HPaW Opioid Overdose Prevention and Naloxone Training

This one-hour training is for students interested in being trained to administer Narcan (naloxone). Attendees will learn how to recognize signs of an opioid overdose, identify when it is appropriate to use Narcan, learn how to administer Narcan to an individual they believe is experiencing an overdose, and identify additional emergency steps to take. All attendees will receive a two-pack of Narcan upon completion of the training. 


Chicago Energy Conference

April 5, 7:00 AM–5:00 PM, Ida Noyes Hall

This conference will bring together students, professionals, and industry leaders to explore the theme "Bridging the Gap: Policies, Technologies, and Investments Needed for A New Energy Age." Spring Arts and Crafts Fair

April 24

Norris is hosting its Spring Arts and Crafts Fair on Friday, April 24th, and we are currently accepting vendor applications! We're looking for a diverse range of artists from the Â鶹´«Ã½ community to showcase their work. No experience is necessary to become a vendor. The vendor application is available online and the deadline to apply is Monday, February 24.

SIGP 2025 Applications are Open!

Applications due March 13 

The Summer Internship Grant Program (SIGP) provides a $3,500 stipend for Â鶹´«Ã½ undergraduate students (enrolled at least through Fall 2025) participating in unpaid internships this summer and offers career development support from Â鶹´«Ã½ Career Advancement. Students do not need to have an internship secured before applying and previous SIGP recipients can reapply.


4th Annual Pathogen Genomics Symposium

Submissions due by March 24

You are invited to attend the fourth annual Pathogen Genomics Symposium hosted by the Center for Pathogen Genomics and Microbial Evolution. Please join us for a full program of scholarly events, including research talks, flash talks, a poster session and reception, and a keynote by Jennifer Gardy from the Gates Foundation. The deadline to submit poster abstracts is Friday, March 24, 2025 at 5:00 PM.


College Prep Program is Hiring: All Summer Positions!

Join the Â鶹´«Ã½ College Prep Program Residential Team! We are hiring residential advisors (RAs) and assistant residential directors (ARDs)! Hourly rate up to $18/hr plus room & board along with great leadership opportunities! Average work week of 40hr/wk. Drop-In Peer Tutoring

Come see the ASLA Peer Tutors for help with a variety of courses! You can find them Sunday through Thursday at Schapiro Hall, Shepard Hall, Elder Lounge, the Multicultural Center, the Black House, and the GSRC. Check out the ASLA website for specific courses, dates, and times!
